Dear Parents and Guardians:                                                                                         August 2016

Welcome to the 2016-17 school year, which promises to be a pivotal one at Lynwood!  We are preparing to launch our Dual-Immersion program in just 2 years (August of 2018).  We are entering our seventh year partnering with Marin Community Foundation to ensure that every Lynwood student, without exception is proficient in reading, math and written language by grade three.  Together, we can make this goal a reality.  Two of the most visible strategies that you will see this year are cultivating a school wide “culture of caring” and collecting a minute-by-minute account of student’s learning experiences throughout a school day to reflect upon the data and drive our instructional practices.

This packet includes important information to read and complete.  Please review the Lynwood Parent Student Handbook, which will be posted on our website, in late August. Printed copies of the handbook will not be distributed, but can be obtained in the office upon request.   Adhering to the handbook’s expectations will ensure a positive, safe and friendly school that supports teaching and learning.  A Dual-Immersion timeline and FAQ is also linked to our website.

Return all appropriate forms, including the Student Emergency Card, on All in One Day – Friday, August 12 between 4:00 – 6:30 pm in the Multipurpose Room.  When you enter you will receive your “passport” for this event.  There are stations you must visit to complete the passport process.  At each station, you will receive a stamp before you can submit the forms and receive your child’s classroom assignment at the last station.  Please call the office (897-4161) if you have questions about All in One Day or other beginning of the year events.
